Adjust the fit of an existing modeled Thread without deleting and recreating its history feature.

Purpose#

Adjust the fit of an existing modeled Thread without deleting and recreating its history feature.

Where to find it#

Open History and tap the pencil beside the Thread.

Selection#

• Choose an existing Thread feature, including catalog, Custom, face-sized, or legacy threads.

Steps#

1. Open the Thread in History.
2. Set Representation to Modeled to expose Allowance.
3. Enter a nonnegative Allowance or length expression, then select Update Feature.

Modeled exposes Allowance. Cosmetic hides it and retains the stored value for a later switch back.

Allowance

#

Radial clearance: positive values shrink external threads or enlarge internal threads. Uses document units and supports length expressions. Zero removes added clearance.

Available when: Shown when Representation is Modeled.

Update Feature

#

Rebuilds the existing history feature and its downstream dependents without appending a new Thread.

Result#

The existing Thread retains its identity, selected face, pitch and extent. The adjusted allowance is saved with it.

Editing#

Reopen the same Thread to adjust the saved allowance again. Switching to Cosmetic preserves it.
