Purpose
Replace a sharp corner between two connected straight sketch lines with an equal-distance bevel.
Where to find it
While editing a sketch, open Modify and choose Chamfer.
Selection
- Tap the shared endpoint of two connected, editable, non-collinear straight lines. Projected lines must be unlinked and fixed lines must be unlocked before they can be chamfered.
Steps
- Enter Chamfer D.
- Tap the corner and review the trimmed lines and straight bevel preview.
- Tap Apply to commit the chamfer, or Cancel to leave the sketch unchanged.
Options
Result
Apply preserves the two original line entities with trimmed endpoints and inserts one new straight sketch line between them. Construction geometry stays construction only when both source lines are construction.
Editing
Use sketch Undo to restore the original corner, or edit the resulting line geometry and constraints directly. Chamfer D is not retained as a separate editable feature after Apply.
Troubleshooting
The chamfer cannot fit on the selected corner.
Reduce Chamfer D and confirm both connected lines are longer than the requested setback.
The corner cannot be selected for Chamfer.
Confirm the corner uses two connected straight lines. Use Break Link for projected geometry or unlock fixed lines; arcs, splines, disconnected lines, and straight-through line pairs are not supported.
