Privacy Policy

MakerSolid is provided by Sidelake Labs Inc., operating from Ontario, Canada. This Privacy Policy explains what information MakerSolid collects, how it is used, and the choices available to you.

MakerSolid is a CAD modeling app for iPad. The app is designed so your CAD projects and design files are stored locally on your device or in a storage location you choose, unless you decide to import, export, share, or back them up using Apple or third-party services outside MakerSolid.

Information We Collect

CAD projects and design content

MakerSolid lets you create CAD projects, sketches, bodies, reference images, vector imports, and exported manufacturing files such as STL, 3MF, and STEP files.

This design content is stored on your device or in a file location you choose. Sidelake Labs Inc. does not operate a MakerSolid cloud service and does not automatically upload your CAD project content to our servers.

If you choose to import, export, share, save to another location, or back up files through iPadOS, iCloud, Files, AirDrop, email, messaging apps, cloud storage providers, or other apps, those services may process the files according to their own privacy policies.

Files, photos, and reference images you select

MakerSolid may allow you to select files or images from your device, Photos library, or Files app for use as project references or imports. MakerSolid accesses only the items you select through the system picker. It does not request broad access to your full photo library.

App settings and entitlement state

MakerSolid stores settings on your device, such as project defaults, selected project storage location, demo usage, analytics preference, and purchase entitlement state. This information is used to operate the app, remember your preferences, and make unlocked features available offline when appropriate.

Purchases

MakerSolid may offer in-app purchases through Apple. Purchases are processed by Apple. Sidelake Labs Inc. does not receive or store your payment card details.

MakerSolid receives purchase-related information from StoreKit, such as product identifiers, transaction verification results, and entitlement status, so the app can unlock purchased features and restore purchases.

Analytics, diagnostics, and remote configuration

MakerSolid may collect anonymous usage analytics and diagnostics to understand app reliability, performance, and feature usage. MakerSolid may also use remote configuration to show app announcements or adjust non-essential app messaging. This may include:

  • App version, build number, and device family.
  • Screens viewed and broad workflow actions.
  • Tool, import, export, selection, and modeling events.
  • File format categories, such as STL, 3MF, or STEP.
  • Count and duration buckets, such as approximate body counts or operation timing ranges.
  • Error categories and diagnostic events.
  • Crash reports and performance diagnostics.
  • Remote configuration request metadata, such as app identifier, bundle identifier, app version, device locale, time zone, country or region, and operating system information as processed by Firebase.

MakerSolid analytics are designed to avoid collecting your CAD model contents, project names, file names, exact geometry, exact dimensions, personal notes, or exported design files.

Analytics collection can be turned off in the app settings by disabling "Share Anonymous Usage Analytics." When disabled, MakerSolid stops using Firebase-backed analytics, crash reporting, performance monitoring, and remote configuration. This means MakerSolid does not intentionally configure Firebase, send optional analytics events, upload optional crash or performance diagnostics, or fetch Firebase Remote Config announcements while the setting is off.

Third-Party Service Providers

MakerSolid uses third-party services to operate app analytics, diagnostics, performance monitoring, remote configuration, purchases, and App Store distribution.

These providers may process limited technical information according to their own terms and privacy policies:

  • Apple, for App Store distribution, StoreKit purchases, iPadOS file access, and system services.
  • Firebase / Google, for analytics, crash reporting, performance monitoring, and remote configuration when "Share Anonymous Usage Analytics" is enabled.

We use these services to operate, improve, secure, and diagnose MakerSolid. We do not use them to sell your personal information.

How We Use Information

Sidelake Labs Inc. uses information collected by MakerSolid to:

  • Provide CAD modeling, project storage, import, export, and sharing features.
  • Remember app settings and preferences.
  • Verify purchases, restore purchases, and manage feature entitlements.
  • Understand broad feature usage and improve MakerSolid.
  • Diagnose crashes, errors, and performance issues.
  • Maintain app reliability, security, and compatibility.
  • Comply with legal obligations and App Store requirements.

Data Sharing

Sidelake Labs Inc. does not sell your personal information.

We may share limited information with service providers that help operate MakerSolid, such as Apple and Firebase / Google, as described above. We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect rights and safety, or in connection with a business transfer such as a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets.

Data Retention

CAD project files and app settings are retained on your device or in the storage location you choose until you delete them, delete the app, or remove the storage location.

Purchase entitlement information may be cached on your device so MakerSolid can continue to recognize unlocked features when offline.

Analytics, crash, performance, and diagnostic information is retained by our service providers according to their retention settings and policies, and only for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.

Your Choices

You can:

  • Disable optional Firebase analytics, crash reporting, performance monitoring, and remote configuration in MakerSolid settings.
  • Delete CAD projects and exported files from your device or chosen storage location.
  • Manage iPadOS app permissions in the Settings app.
  • Manage Apple purchase history, subscriptions, and refunds through your Apple ID and App Store settings.
  • Delete MakerSolid from your device to remove app-local data, subject to any files you separately saved, exported, shared, or backed up.

Children

MakerSolid is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through MakerSolid, contact us so we can take appropriate action.

International Processing

Sidelake Labs Inc. operates from Ontario, Canada. Service providers used by MakerSolid may process information in Canada, the United States, or other countries where they operate. These countries may have privacy laws that differ from those in your jurisdiction.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information associated with MakerSolid. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date and provide notice as required by law or App Store requirements.
